Cambridge Rollerbillies rise up the European rankings after qualifying for 5 Nations play-offs

Cambridge Rollerbillies have continued to be upwardly mobile in the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association European rankings.

Rollerbillies sat 92nd in the standings just a few weeks ago, but following recent back-to-back victories over London Roller Derby and Essex Roller Derby, they have shot up to 66th place.

Saturday’s 180-70 win at the expense of Essex, which was played in London, has left Rollerbillies second in the WFTDA-side Tier 3 East table, three points adrift of league-leading Kent Roller Derby. And having picked up the silver medal for a second year running, Cambridge have secured themselves a spot in the 5 Nations play-offs, which will be held 14-25 September in Stoke-on-Trent.

Cambridge dominated the game from the start, holding Essex score-less well in to the first half of the game.

The Rollerbillies had some penalty trouble throughout, but were able to minimise the damage with dynamic one-on-one blocking and resilience from their jammers.
