Pedro Porro says £42m Tottenham teammate is now ‘the best in the world’ at his position

Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has now claimed one of his teammates is the best in the world at his position.

The curtain is drawing on Ange Postecoglou‘s first campaign in charge of Tottenham with one final game to play on Sunday.

Fifth place has not yet been secured by the Lilywhites, though. Spurs will be travelling to Bramall Lane in need of at least a point or Chelsea to slip up against Bournemouth.

Although Spurs have fallen short in the race for Champions League qualification, it has been a season of progression at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

There have been a number of players who have impressed under the Australian this season with the likes of Micky van de Ven being a real standout performer.

However, there is another player at Hotspur Way who right-back Pedro Porro has been massively impressed by this season.

Pedro Porro wowed by one specific Tottenham teammate

Although the Spaniard may have given away a penalty on Tuesday night after being beaten by Jeremy Doku, he has also had an impressive campaign.

Porro got Spurs back on track last weekend with the equaliser against Burnley and has been a constant attacking threat under Postecoglou.

The 24-year-old has returned three goals and seven assists this term in what has been a strange campaign for the Spurs backline.

Individually, the Spurs defenders have been excellent, however, they have had a huge issue with keeping clean sheets this season.

Despite this, Porro has hailed the efforts of the Spurs vice-captain Cristian Romero in a recent interview.

The £42m Argentine was made vice-captain behind Heung-min Son in the summer and it looks to have been a masterstroke from Postecoglou.

Speaking in a recent interview with the Premier League, the Spaniard hailed Romero as the best in his position.

“He’s the best centre-back in the world,” Porro said.

To which Romero – who was sat alongside Porro – replied: “My brother!”

Pedro Porro has adapted seamlessly under Ange Postecoglou

It has to be remembered that Porro was signed as a right-wing-back for Antonio Conte’s defence back in January 2023.

And just months later, the Spaniard finds himself playing in a completely different system under the Australian manager.

However, he has adapted to life under Postecoglou excellently and looks to be one of the Premier League’s best at right-back.

With a full summer under Postecoglou under his belt ahead of next season, surely the only way is up for Porro in a Spurs shirt.
