Guglielmo Vicario is now two games away from doing something no Tottenham goalkeeper has done since 2007

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is now just 180 minutes of football away from doing something quite impressive.

The curtain is almost drawn on Ange Postecoglou‘s first season in north London as the Tottenham manager.

It is a season which has provided its struggles along the way but a real positive has been the way the majority of the new signings have settled in at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs have been backed by Daniel Levy with the signings of players like Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven who have shone throughout the season.

The Dutchman was awarded the Supporters’ Player of the Season award prior to kick-off on the weekend against Burnley.

He has summed up the improved recruitment at Tottenham with Vicario also able to set an impressive record if he is able to keep it tight between the sticks over the final two games.

Guglielmo Vicario is 180 minutes away from matching 17-year-old record

Having signed the 27-year-old goalkeeper from Empoli, there will have been a number of people unsure as to what to expect from Vicario.

Although Hugo Lloris may not have been at his best over recent years, replacing him was always going to be a big task given what a servant he had been for the club.

However, Spurs struck gold with Vicario with the Italian goalkeeper quickly becoming one of the best in the Premier League.

Despite Tottenham’s dreadful clean sheet record this season, Vicario has racked up over 100 saves for Spurs this season.

Perhaps even more impressive has been the Italian’s reliability between the sticks with no errors made which have led to a goal being conceded.

This is a feat which no Tottenham goalkeeper has done across a season since the 2006/07 campaign when Paul Robinson was the number one.

Spurs have found their new number one for years to come in the Italian and he has certainly settled in well to life at Hotspur Way.

What Guglielmo Vicario said about Tottenham fans after victory over Burnley

The win on the weekend against Burnley saw the players take part in a lap of appreciation at full-time with the final home game of the season not finishing until 10pm on a weeknight.

Vicario was able to bring his parents on to the pitch after the game as they all showed their gratitude for the support over the season.

It has been a turbulent season for Spurs with a lot of ups and downs, but Vicario has certainly been one of the big positives and he has shared his delight with life at Tottenham after the game.

“So happy to have had my parents on the pitch with me today. A big thank you to you, Spurs fans, for making me and my family feel at home here since day 1. 2 more games, COYS,” he said on his Instagram account.
