Alasdair Gold draws John Terry comparison after what he spotted Mikey Moore doing in Tottenham debut

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Mikey Moore was spotted doing something on Tuesday against Manchester City that was similar to former Chelsea man John Terry.

In a strange night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, there were some positives to take despite losing out on a spot in the Champions League.

Ange Postecoglou was not a happy manager after Tottenham‘s defeat but he did provide 16-year-old Mikey Moore with his senior debut.

The midfielder became the club’s youngest-ever player to make an appearance in the Premier League at just 16 years, nine months and three days old.

Moore was brought on when Spurs were 2-0 behind and played the time added on at the end of the second half.

But journalist Alasdair Gold has now said he noticed the youngster doing something only top players have been seen doing in the past.

Mikey Moore seriously impressed with his brief cameo

The youngster had initially joined up with Postecoglou’s first team at Hotspur Way for a short spell in training.

However, the 16-year-old impressed so much that he has not returned to the U18s side since and has now been rewarded for his efforts.

He has impressed Tottenham so much that the club are now expected to involve him in their pre-season efforts when they travel to Asia.

And it seems it is not just those inside the club which Moore has impressed following his debut against Manchester City.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has admitted he was amazed to see the youngster dishing out the orders to his senior teammates when he came on.

“What I loved about the way he played in those 10 minutes was it was like something that you’d hear people say about top players. And forgive me for saying this, but I always remember people saying about John Terry, as a 16-year-old/17-year-old he would go on the pitch and tell everyone what to do. He would not have any fear. He would tell the senior player, ‘Pass there. Pass there. That man is free – do that do that’.” Gold said.

“And I saw Mikey Moore doing that on the pitch as a 16-year-old. And I love that so much. Sometimes young kids when they get their chance in the first team, they’re so concerned about their own performance almost to their detriment. They’re quite nervous.

“Mikey went out there he was instructing these experienced pros what to do with the ball.”

Mikey Moore hails James Maddison and Heung-min Son for helping him

It has to be remembered that Moore is still just 16-years-old and here he is making his debut against the current Champions League holders.

The youngster has had a massive rise from the U18s to making his debut in the senior side against the champions-elect.

And after the game, he admitted there were two players in James Maddison and Heung-min Son who he was learning from.

“It’s been good to see the level of the players. It ups your level, you start to get sharper and better on the ball. It’s been good to be learning off players like Sonny, Madders. It’s been unbelievable really,” he told the club’s media on Tuesday.

Although Moore may have impressed in training, he may still be some distance away from making his first start for Tottenham which may suggest next season could see him loaned out to find some regular action.
