Incredibly, David Moyes West Ham return on the cards

West Ham United are set to part ways with David Moyes for the second time after this season ends.

David Moyes has enjoyed a successful second spell at West Ham, and the likes of Stan Collymore and Garth Crooks have been incredibly critical of the decision from the board to move him on.

‘Be careful what you wish for’, those who hardly ever watch us play have been shouting from the rooftops recently.

The Crystal Palace owners’ move to appoint Oliver Glasner has proven that that way of thinking is deeply flawed.

Seriously, what is wrong with showing some real ambition and demanding more from your team? Despite praise from Lucas Paqueta, it’s clear to see that that Moyes isn’t the man we need to take us to the next level.

Julen Lopetegui is all set to replace Moyes, when the Scot officially leaves his post at the London Stadium.

The Spaniard is expected to usher the Hammers on into a new era of success, and he apparently has a vision for taking us into the Champions League.

I truly believe that Lopetegui is a big upgrade on Moyes, but Moyes seemingly could still be in the Hammers’ future!

David Moyes West Ham return on the cards

Moyes first took over at the London Stadium in November 2017, and went on to keep us in the Premier League.

Then in the summer of 2018, he was moved on and replaced by Manuel Pellegrini. However, the Chilean’s time with West Ham was short-lived after a horror run of form, underpinned by Roberto’s shocking performances between the sticks, left us in real relegation trouble just before the end of the year in 2019.

Enter Moyes for the second time. The Scot guided us to safety yet again and the the rest is history.

He is one of our most successful managers of all-time, there’s no doubt about that.

It will be sad to see him go, now that it has all sunk in. But could we see him again at the London Stadium for what would be a third spell?

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Moyes said, “You never say never in this game, I’ve always enjoyed my time here so who knows?”

One thing’s for sure, in football, nobody every truly knows what will happen next.

If Moyes’s relationship with David Sullivan and the Hammers board is not fractured, I wouldn’t put it past the owners to give him a third crack of the whip.

If Lopetegui struggles at the London Stadium, a David Moyes West Ham return could well be on the cards.

However, I don’t see that happening. Lopetegui is a top manager, and I expect to see him guide us to some real success over the next few years.
