Report: Tottenham want to sign £50m PL ‘monster’ this summer and his club may now be forced to sell

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur side could make haste of a real opportunity to strengthen their squad this coming summer.

Spurs have by no means been poor, but the last few months have delineated the size of the task that remains.

Despite good progress in the last two transfer windows, signing players such as Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario, Tottenham’s squad still isn’t quite in their manager’s image.

And whilst the reaction to the Manchester City game is dominating talk around Spurs right now, it will matter little in the coming months.

Behind the scenes Daniel Levy will be working immensely hard to prepare deals for players who will propel this project, one that still has so much promise.

Tottenham may have failed to qualify for the Champions League, but they may still spend like that level of club in the summer.

And with that in mind, Mail Sport have now reported that Tottenham are still very interested in Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

Tottenham still want Jarrad Branthwaite this summer and Everton may be forced to sell

According to the report, Everton are now bracing themselves to receive opening offers for the 21-year-old defender this summer.

Tottenham remain keen on signing the centre-back and could face competition from both Manchester clubs according to this report.

The information also details that Everton, although very reluctantly, may succumb to the need to sell one of their star players.

Selling Jarrad Branthwaite or Amadou Onana, who has also been linked to several top clubs, could be an important route to bringing in much needed revenue.

Daniel Levy is known to have taken advantage of such situations in the past, as can be seen with the deal for Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson.

Levy wouldn’t hesitate to extract value from another club’s need to raise funds, and therefore a deal for Branthwaite could really have legs for Tottenham.

The report states that a £50m offer, which United and City would be willing to pay, would be below Everton’s current valuation.

Branthwaite has proved his ‘monster’ potential this season, and could further his reputation at this summer’s Euros with England.

All that being said, Fabrizio Romano has just provided an update on the contract situation of one Tottenham target.
