Report: Newcastle player who did something 'terrible' recently really wants to stay this summer

There could be big changes at Newcastle United this summer.

Indeed, there has been talk of a rebuild at St James’ Park, albeit it remains to be seen whether or not FFP limitations will allow Newcastle to undertake an extensive revamp of their squad.

Still, players are expected to depart, although some good news has emerged recently.

Arsenal are said to no longer retain an interest in Alexander Isak, while Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly surprised at the extent to which they’ve been linked with Bruno Guimaraes.

With the two most in-demand players seemingly sticking around, others will surely have to go.

The club are believed to be looking to raise money through player sales, after all.

Callum Wilson’s agents are thought to be looking for a new club for him, while Kieran Trippier may be facing an uncertain future.

Miguel Almiron, meanwhile, is said to be attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.

The player, however, may have something different in mind.

Miguel Almiron really wants to stay at Newcastle

According to The Chronicle, the 30-year-old is keen to stay on Tyneside.

His aim is to fight for his place at Newcastle next season, such is his desire to stay working with Eddie Howe.

He was not interested in a move to Saudi during the January transfer window and Almiron’s stance is not thought to have changed.

Newcastle must convince Miguel Almiron to go

Recently branded“terrible” by Alan Shearer for a theatrical dive against Brighton, the time feels right for Almiron to depart.

While last season was a real high watermark in his career and his performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League this time around is not to be forgotten, everything comes to an end.

Having frustrated at times this season and with Yankuba Minteh set for a chance to impress, the right-hand side of the attack looks set for freshening up.

Though its admirable Almiron wants to stay, he looks like one of the more sellable assets in the Newcastle squad without severely weakening the team itself.
