The Russian Federation is unable to accomplish the task, which was the main reason for the intensification of the offensive from the Kharkiv region, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Ukrainian President emphasized that our forces are currently quite effectively destroying the enemy in the Donetsk sector, particularly in the Chasiv Yar area.

“In fact, the occupier is not achieving its goal of stretching our forces and thus weakening Ukraine on a wide front from Kharkiv to Donetsk regions,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

Offensive in Kharkiv region

On May 10, the Russians began to intensify hostilities in the Kharkiv sector. At first, the Russian military tried to break through the Ukrainian defense line, and then tried to stretch the line of active hostilities towards the Donetsk region.

Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that Russia managed to expand the combat zone in the region by another 70 kilometers. You can read more about Syrskyi's opinion on this issue and the likely intentions of the Russian Federation in the article.

At the same time, yesterday, May 18, Zelenskyy said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were able to gain more confidence in the Kharkiv sector this week.
