'My dream': Thiago Silva tells Chelsea fans what he wants to see happen after final game for club

Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Bournemouth was Thiago Silva’s last game in blue.

Thiago Silva‘s contract expires next month and the central defender will be joining Fluminense when it is officially up.

It was an emotional day for Silva, who quickly became part of the furniture at Stamford Bridge.

He arrived in west London four years ago and helped Chelsea to win the Champions League in his debut season.

In total, Silva made 155 appearances for the club. His teammate Noni Madueke recently described him as a “true professional”.

Thiago Silva’s Chelsea dream

Silva has played for Chelsea now, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and has won the Champions League there.

Yet the Brazilian still has a dream related to the Blues.

After the win against Bournemouth, he told supporters: “My dream is to see my kids play for you.”

Both of his sons already play for Chelsea’s academy.

Will Chelsea miss Thiago Silva?

Chelsea will not be light of centre-back options after Silva’s departure.

Mauricio Pochettino still has Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana in his squad for now.

However, none of them have the experience and leadership of the former Paris Saint-Germain captain who has done it all.

Honestly, it is still quite baffling that Chelsea are allowing Silva to go. Turning 40 this year, he is obviously not getting any younger. But Silva has still shown this season that he is not past it.

After all, this is a 39-year-old who was still able to make 38 appearances in all competitions — that is an entire Premier League season.

What’s done is done now, though. Chelsea will just have to hope that someone can step into his shoes, whether it is a defender already at the club or one someone else who they could bring in when the transfer window opens.
