'I've just said': Declan Rice shares what he told the Arsenal squad immediately after final day victory

Declan Rice has shared what he said to the Arsenal players after their final day win over Everton which was not quite enough to win Mikel Arteta’s men the Premier League title.

The Gunners went into Sunday as underdogs to end their 20-year wait for a league title, with Manchester City guaranteeing a fourth crown in a row with a win over West Ham.

Unfortunately, Arsenal’s win over Everton was indeed not enough to overtake Pep Guardiola’s side, and once again, the Gunners have fallen agonisingly short up against the Manchester City machine.

Arsenal fans will be wary of how the side respond to this disappointment, particularly when you consider how close the Gunners have come this year.

It is not going to be easy to pick themselves up and go again, but Declan Rice has now told Stadium Astro what he said to the squad immediately following the full-time whistle on Sunday.

“Yeah, we have to be. I think I’ve just said to the boys then, that feeling that we have now in our stomach, we need to live with that all summer and come back and know what that feeling’s like today of losing and take it into the next 38 games next year because we’re capable of winning it, but we’ve come up short again. It’s just about adding that little bit more and I’m sure we can get it over the line,” he said.

Gunners eyeing marquee midfield and striker signings

Arsenal appear to be preparing for a big summer in the transfer window, as they look to take that final step and become champions for the first time under Arteta.

Of course, Jurrien Timber will hope to be a lot luckier with injuries after missing the large majority of the campaign due to injury.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are interested in Bruno Guimaraes, and may make a move should the Newcastle United star indicate that he is keen to leave.

And Arsenal are also set to hold talks with RB Leipzig over a potential move for young striker Benjamin Sesko.

Obviously, coming up against Manchester City is a daunting prospect, and you would not be surprised to see them improve further in the summer.

But Arsenal definitely have the hunger to go one better next year.
