Tottenham now interested in £5m Nottingham Forest player who outscored Brennan Johnson

Tottenham Hotspur are now showing an interest in a player from Nottingham Forest just one year on from signing Brennan Johnson.

Ange Postecoglou has now had a full campaign to assess his squad after making a number of changes over his first two transfer windows.

The 58-year-old has led Tottenham to an impressive fifth placed finish in his first season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Europa League secured.

A number of players are now expected to move on this summer with the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso all at risk of being sold.

But the summer is also going to see Spurs bring in new additions to bolster their squad ahead of a season with European football to compete in.

And it seems the Lilywhites are keen on returning to Nottingham Forest for another one of their attacking players.

Tottenham looking to raid Nottingham Forest again for exciting forward

Daniel Levy secured the signing of Brennan Johnson from Forest last summer in a deal worth in the region of £47.5m.

The Welshman has proven to be a solid signing for Spurs this season having provided the Lilywhites with five goals and 10 assists in the Premier League.

And the 22-year-old had a strong end to the campaign with three assists in his final four games including one for Pedro Porro on Sunday at Bramall Lane.

However, Spurs are now looking to add another winger from Forest who has managed to score even more than Johnson this season.

According to club insider Paul O Keefe, Tottenham are now showing an interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi as a potential summer addition.

The 23-year-old made the move to the City Ground last summer from Chelsea in a deal which was only worth around £5m.

But after an impressive campaign for Forest, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will have a bigger asking price set on the winger if they are to sell.

Callum Hudson-Odoi could provide Spurs with an upgrade on Brennan Johnson

Ending the campaign with a 3-0 win over Sheffield United, it could have been made four with Johnson missing a golden opportunity to add his name to the scoresheet.

And that has been the story of the Welshman’s season in north London as he has massively underperformed when it comes to xG conversion.

In comparison, Hudson-Odoi has been able to find the back of the net eight times for a struggling Forest side this season from the left wing.

Here is how the pair have compared this season.

Hudson-Odoi may not be the big-name player which fans may have been hoping for this summer, but he has shown he could be a solid addition ahead of a season where dquad depth will be crucial.
