Report shares crazily low fee Newcastle would sell Anthony Gordon for - it is nonsense

Anthony Gordon is not going to leave Newcastle United, but that is not going to stop the rumour mill.

It started with speculation that Anthony Gordon could return to Merseyside, with Liverpool interested in signing the 23-year-old as they prepare for a future without Jurgen Klopp.

While the Reds are preparing to welcome Arne Slot as their Klopp replacement, they will not be welcoming Gordon to Anfield.

The Newcastle United winger is going nowhere, with Geordie Boot Boys told that the club have absolutely no plans to let the Everton academy graduate leave St James’ Park.

That is no surprise, given he only joined the club in January 2023. After a season and a half in the North East, Gordon has developed into a real superstar. He has proved a lot of people wrong with his talent, and is someone who should be named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros.

New club linked with signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle

That will be Gordon’s primary focus right now, with the attacker hoping that an injury will not ruin his chances of representing the Three Lions at a major tournament.

While he waits to discover his international fate, Gordon is once again being linked with a move away from Newcastle United.

And if you thought the Liverpool rumour was crazy, the latest speculation will blow you away.

According to Italian outlet Inter Live, Serie A giants Inter Milan could be offered the chance to sign Gordon from Newcastle.

They report that Gordon shares the same agent as Inter star Hakan Calhanoglu, with Unique Sports Agency possibly looking to unite the duo at the San Siro.

Newcastle’s ‘asking price’ makes this story even more laughable

That rumour alone is enough to make you laugh. But Inter Live take their report even further.

They state that Inter will not be signing Gordon, as the price that Newcastle have set is too high. They claim that the Magpies want £51million for their number 10, less than two years after agreeing to pay up to £45million.

So after Gordon has improved so much in a black and white shirt, Newcastle would only look to make £6million profit? What a load of absolute nonsense.

If Gordon were to leave the club, he would probably cost a fee similar to what Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak will cost. He is almost as important, while his transfer value comes with an ‘English tax’ that sees players from these shores cost so much more.

Inter Milan will not be signing Gordon this summer. Nor will anyone. And if the unthinkable were to happen, his departure would cost a lot more than £51million.

It is stories like this that make you realise it is going to be a long summer transfer window.
