'I think': Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker state the three signings Tottenham need to make this summer

Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker have now been having their say on the signings Tottenham Hotspur should be making over the summer.

It’s had its ups and downs, but on the whole Ange Postecoglou’s first season at Spurs has been full of promise, and fans must be excited for the future.

Tottenham are thought to be in a strong financial position heading into the summer transfer window and Daniel Levy will surely back his manager.

Postecoglou has aired his frustrations of late, but he must believe that both him and the club are well placed to succeed in the near future.

The manager’s words have purely been born out of his ambition, he doesn’t want to settle for the status quo.

And with that in mind, it feels as if there could be a real overhaul of this Tottenham team in the summer.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Rodon, Djed Spence all left, and that’s only to name a few.

There’s then the likes of Richarlison and Yves Bissouma who are currently important members of the XI, who could also be set for an exit if reports are to be believed.

Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker think Tottenham definitely need a new striker

All that being said, Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker have been focusing on the players Tottenham should sign when speaking on the BBC’s Match of the Day.

The pair were reflecting on the win against Sheffield United and the season as a whole, and agreed on three key areas to improve.

Lineker initially asked: “Where do they need to add?”

Shearer replied: “I think they need a top centre-forward and possibly another midfielder yeah.”

Lineker: “Might need another central defender as well if there’s any injuries there.”

Along with Ian Wright, the trio appeared to be in agreement, and it would be hard to argue with any of those additions.

In terms of a centre-forward, perhaps Ivan Toney would still be the smartest option available to Tottenham this summer.

It no longer seems as if Arsenal or Chelsea will push for a deal, meaning Spurs could achieve a fair price.

And despite enduring a quiet end to the season, Toney’s ability and stature has been there for all to see.

The England international does have similarities to Harry Kane’s style, and although he can’t promise the same level of goals, he should be able to make a strong impression.

All that being said, Tottenham are said to have already found a centre-back they’d really like to add this summer.
