'Beautiful': Ben Foster left amazed by one moment from £7m Wolves star during Liverpool defeat

Former Premier League Ben Foster has hailed one of Wolves’ players for something they did against Liverpool on Sunday.

Wanderers fell to a 2-0 defeat at Anfield against the Reds to finish 14th in the Premier League table. Frustratingly, Fulham’s win over Luton Town saw Gary O’Neil‘s side drop a place.

Wolves were never really expected to get anything from Anfield.

And the job was made even more difficult when Nelson Semedo was sent off, after an intervention from VAR – a decision some believe was controversial.

Alexis Mac Allister and Jarell Quansah got the goals for Liverpool. Wolves did have some chances through Matheus Cunha and Pedro Neto, but it was another defeat to end the campaign.

It was a bit of a struggle at times for Wolves. But there was one moment that left Ben Foster really impressed…

Former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster has put out a new video on his YouTube channel – and there is a feature for Wolves’ goalkeeper Jose Sa.

Foster has a series on his channel called ‘The Keepers Corner’, where he and a guest analyse the best saves from the weekend’s action.

Foster and former goalkeeper turned coach David Watson took a look back at the save Sa made for Wolves from Mo Salah.

The 31-year-old had to be at full stretch to stop it from sailing into the top corner, and he drew praise from Foster for his athleticism.

He said: “This is beautiful isn’t it Watto? It’s a quad-burner. The save is actually the easiest part of all of this, right.

“The contact, shifting from side to side, he’s doing it all through the balls of his feet and I guarantee you his thighs would have been burning at this point. Screaming!

“But this is what it takes. It’s the only reason he can make that save. He’s looking round bodies and through legs, he’s on the balls of his feet. That is what makes him able to tip it over the bar. It’s such good footwork honestly.

“Save of the weekend, absolute belter.”

Jose Sa has finished the season well

Sa can hold his head fairly high for the way he has finished the season for Wolves.

Quite a few players have seen their levels drop, many of them because of fatigue. But Sa’s level has remained fairly high, despite him conceding quite a lot of goals.

The £7 million signing has been linked with a move away from Molineux, but he has certainly made a strong case recently to be kept.

It has been reported that some coaches at the club are concerned about his ball-playing ability. That is a worry that some supporters do share. But Sa remains a top shot-stopper. He made a whopping 11 saves against the Reds, with seven of those coming from shots inside his area.

The Portugal international has his critics. But he definitely deserves a bit of credit for the way he’s finished the campaign as Wolves have struggled.
