Report: West Ham United 'favourites' to sign £21.3m forward who has been likened to Neymar

West Ham United are in pole position to sign their first player of the Julen Lopetegui era, according to a recent report.

The Hammers ended the Premier League campaign in ninth and will now bid farewell to David Moyes after two spells at the club.

The focus will quickly turn to the upcoming summer transfer window, as they look to strengthen in a number of areas.

Out wide will certainly be one and a winger is already being mooted with a move to the London Stadium.

West Ham United ‘favourites’ to sign Wesley

West Ham United are ‘favourites’ to sign Corinthians starlet Wesley and a club chief from the Brazillian outfit is set to travel to Europe next week to hold talks, according to Globo Esporte.

The Hammers have already seen a £15.3m bid rejected and will need to meet their £21.3m valuation to strike a deal for the wide player likened to Neymar.

Though, it’s also being claimed that if West Ham are willing to include a sell-on clause, they could land his signature for a slightly cheaper fee.

Wesley, who turned 19 in March, has netted five times whilst laying on two assists across 25 outings this term.

West Ham United haven’t invested in Brazillian market enough

There are a plethora of talented players in the Brazillian league and many have come over to England lately and really impressed.

Nottingham Forest’s Murillo is a shining example and it seems West Ham have now realised they’re missing a trick.

Indeed, Wesley is still very young but under the stewardship of Lopetegui, if he is to sign, he could have the potential to become one of the best wingers in the Premier League – that’s how highly they rate him in Brazil.
