Nottingham Forest have now made a decision on whether to sign one of their loan players this summer.
It’s going to be a busy summer for Forest and ultimately the Reds have now acted quickly on certain individuals.
Forest have been active in pretty much every transfer window since winning promotion and things don’t appear to be settling this summer.
The Reds will likely place extra emphasis on balancing the squad this time around – but new signings will still be required.
Now, one top journalist has announced that Forest have made a decision over one of their loan players.
Nottingham Forest make decision on Rodrigo Ribeiro
The talented 19-year-old signed for Forest on loan from Sporting Lisbon in January – with reports suggesting an obligation to buy was included.
That doesn’t appear to be the case, however, with Paul Taylor now delivering some information.
He’s claimed that Forest have chosen not to take up the option to buy which was included and no obligation was included in the loan.
This hardly comes as much of a surprise.
Ribeiro played for just 15 minutes in all competitions, although he was introduced late in the piece at Burnley on Sunday.
Now, he will return to Sporting Lisbon where he will try and earn a place in their senior ranks for next season.
Forest right not to sign striker
This does make a lot of sense really given that it’d likely cost around £10 million to make the deal permanent.
Forest have to balance the books to avoid another points deduction and landing Ribeiro makes little sense.
One thing that this does reiterate is the need for Forest to be smarter with their loan recruitment.
Not a single loan player has made an impact this season, with Ribeiro, Gio Reyna and Andrey Santos in the first half of the season barely featuring.
Forest fans will now watch Ribeiro with intrigue and hopefully, he won’t prove to be one that got away from their grasp.
