Chelsea would be mad to sell 'unbelievable' player for £25m, he's shown he's worth double that - opinion

Chelsea could be about have a real shocker in the upcoming transfer window.

As a result of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, Chelsea may have to sell some members of their first-team squad this summer.

That, however, does not mean they should just sell any player who they can get money for.

Yet there is a possibility that the club do that and lose someone who is worth way more than what they are willing to accept for him.

Who could Chelsea sell this summer?

Right now, several players are being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Despite his importance to Mauricio Pochettino, the above includes Conor Gallagher. The midfielder has made 50 appearances this season, but it has been claimed that he could join Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

Ian Maatsen is another name that could be on his way out of the club. The left-back is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund and it is being reported that the German outfit are now preparing to make an offer to sign him permanently.

Trevoh Chalobah could then make it a hat-trick of Chelsea academy graduates amid talk of him leaving Stamford Bridge as well.

Chelsea should not entertain £25m offers for Trevoh Chalobah

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea could be open to selling Chalobah for £25m this summer.

In this day and age, that is peanuts. Chalobah has Premier League experience, can play in more than one position, has four years left on his contract and is only 24. If Chelsea were trying to sign him from another side in the top flight, they would probably be asking for £50m.

Since returning from injury, Chalobah has shown that he could indeed be worth that.

The former England U21 international was excellent in Chelsea’s last five games of the season, which saw them pick up maximum points and qualify for European football.

For example, in their 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion, Chalobah made the most tackles (four) and most clearances (nine) in the game, according to WhoScored.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand once hailed one of his performances as “unbelievable”, and some of his most recent displays have been that as well.

Considering all of the above, Chalobah looks more like a £50m signing than a £25m one.
