West Ham could sign brand new left winger imminently as Sullivan reportedly prepares £12.8m bid

West Ham United could be about to add a brand new left winger to our ranks this summer.

Incoming new West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui has a lot of work on his hands at the London Stadium, with the addition of a new left winger an absolute must.

The Spaniard has apparently been holding meetings with Hammers Director of Football Tim Steidten throughout the week regarding potential transfer targets.

Lopetegui is reportedly determined to get all of his transfer business done as early as possible, so all of his new signings are with the squad for the pre-season games.

If he is successful in doing that, it will make such a refreshing change from the way that David Moyes worked.

One of Lopetegui’s chief priorities this summer will be to sign a new left winger, after Moyes allowed Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals to leave in January without replacing either of them.

And it seems as thought the Spaniard has one player in particular in mind for the job…

The Hammers are extremely thin on the ground when it comes to attacking options.

And Lopetegui is apparently ready to address that issue as a matter of urgency.

According to a report from A Bola, West Ham are lining up a £12.8 million bid for Vitória de Guimarães winger Jota Silva in the coming weeks – a player we’ve been linked with for just over a week now.

For that kind of money, the addition of the 24-year-old Portuguese ace will be an absolute no-brainer for the Hammers.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a stunning season with Vitória de Guimarães. He has bagged 15 goals and seven assists in 42 games in all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

22 goals contributions really is an exceptional return. The Portuguese star is at his best when playing in the left wing position, but he can also play on the right or through the middle as a centre-forward.

The only question mark hanging over his head is regarding whether he has the physical attributes required to succeed in the Premier League.

The only way we’ll find out the answer is if he moves to England to test himself. And if Silva is the new left winger who West Ham sign this summer, I’ll be more than happy.
