‘Huge’: Mark Wilson has noticed the ‘big’ difference between Celtic and Rangers ahead of Scottish Cup final

A Glasgow Derby has been a good fixture for Celtic under Brendan Rodgers this season.

With three wins and a draw, the ten points picked up against Rangers proved crucial in helping steer Celtic to their third title in a row.

Rodgers has faced Rangers 17 times over two spells at Celtic and has won 13, drawn three and lost just once. The Celtic boss just seems to know how to get a result over our closest rivals.

And as the Scottish Cup final provides another chance for Rodgers to get one over the Ibrox club again, Mark Wilson has shared the ‘big difference’ he’s noticed between the two clubs that will stand Celtic in good stead for another win on Saturday.

Celtic ‘stepped up’ under pressure

The former Celtic defender was praising his old club for their title win and, looking ahead to the Scottish Cup final, pointed out the ‘big difference’ that could be ‘huge’ in helping keep the trophy in the Parkhead trophy room.

Wilson said [Superscoreboard], “The correct word is focus. The job has been done. Celtic have been focused on the remaining five games when the split came and got the job done.

“They won every one of them and they’ll enjoy their day today. They’ve enjoyed their week after Kilmarnock after sealing the title, but they will refocus for the cup final.

“Because it’s a huge, huge game ahead. It’s a chance to win a double, the chance to stop Rangers from winning two trophies because Philippe Clement can point to that as a small step toward success.

“So it’s up to the Celtic players to make sure that doesn’t happen and it’s a big week ahead. But congratulations once again because it has been a slog sometimes.

“And they’ve had to dig in. But, when it really mattered, the big players stepped up and that’s been the difference between the two sides, the big players stepped up at the most crucial period.”

If Celtic does manage to beat Rangers at Hampden it will continue Brendan Rodgers’ remarkable unbeaten record in the competition.

It will also mean Celtic remain the record holders for most wins at 42 and assert the club’s position as the most successful club in Scotland.
