This weekend, Rihanna ‘shocked’ fans as she walked around New York City in $1k sock shoes. Well, if anyone can pull it off, it’s Rihanna.
The music star has been spotted in New York City lately, as she and ASAP Rocky celebrated their eldest son RZA’s second birthday. It was thought the two would attend the Met Gala in the city at the start of the month, however, the celebrity couple gave it a miss as Rihanna reportedly came down with the flu. As she couldn’t show off her unique fashion there, she’s now taken to the streets of New York to do it.
Rihanna walks around New York in ‘sock shoes’
The mom of two was spotted walking around the Big Apple in a stylish tracksuit on Friday, in what appeared to be just a pair of grey knitted socks on her feet.
However, upon further inspection, it was realized that the Umbrella singer wasn’t channeling her inner Kanye West as they were actually the Bottega Veneta knit sock shoe, which retails at $1.1k.
Kanye and his wife, Bianca Censori are know for their ‘lack of footwear’ (and clothing) at times. Just recently, the former architect was seen in Disneyland walking around with socks with holes for her toes to peek out.
Although Kanye was wearing shoes that day, he and his wife paraded around Italy last Summer with no shoes on.
Back to Rihanna, the star looked stylish despite the ‘lack of shoes’ as she paired the unique footwear with a blue and white Awake NY zipped sweatshirt and matching pants.
Finishing off the cool and comfy look, the 36-year-old wore a pair of sunglasses and a Yankees baseball cap.
It’s not the first time the star has worn a ‘unique’ outfit lately
Although RiRi can pull off any look, lately, she ‘dressed as a bush’ for her Fenty x PUMA sneaker collab, celebrating the new Puma Creeper Phatty Earth Tone sneakers.
It explains the nature behind the shoot, although fans weren’t too sure… “Looks like one of those America’s Next Top Model photoshoots,” joked one.
Another penned: “Why does she look like Swamp Thing??”
We’re sure she would have made up for it with her Met Gala dress, but unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until next year!
