Title-chasing defender wanted by West Ham United after Tottenham Hotspur sold him for £9m

Tottenham Hotspur’s back line has gone through major changes in recent times and Ange Postecoglou now has three quality centre backs at his disposal.

Tottenham fans probably feel a little spoilt by the three centre backs Postecoglou can select.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have formed a superb partnership when both fit and available this season.

Radu Dragusin arrived in January and has shown promising signs that he can have a huge future at Tottenham.

Spurs even have up-and-coming centre backs to bring through in the coming years with Alfie Dorrington, Ashley Phillips and Luka Vuskovic all having big potential.

The likes of Eric Dier, Clement Lenglet and Juan Foyth have long gone and we are unlikely to ever see Joe Rodon in a Tottenham shirt again.

Davinson Sanchez could make Premier League return with West Ham United

Tottenham have really revamped the centre back options and that has included offloading Davinson Sanchez.

Spurs allowed Sanchez to leave for Galatasaray in September despite the English transfer market being closed, preventing a replacement from arriving.

Tottenham were caught short defensively come November but the decision was made to cash in before Sanchez’s contract ran out at the end of the season.

The move has worked out well for Sanchez; barring a final-day disaster this weekend, the Colombian will win the Turkish Super Lig title with Galatasaray.

Sanchez has been impressing in Turkey and his performances could hand him a swift return to the Premier League.

Caught Offside claim that three Premier League clubs – Everton, Fulham and West Ham United – are all interested in signing Sanchez.

Italian side Napoli are also believed to be keen too with Sanchez becoming a wanted man this summer.

Spurs made right decision on Sanchez

There was maybe some surprise that Sanchez was flogged.

The timing was a little strange and Sanchez does have a decent turn of pace which could have allowed him to play in Postecoglou’s high line.

Sanchez didn’t really show his quality on web all though and that may be why Postecoglou was happy to sanction a deal.

Spurs brought in £9million for Sanchez and the move seems to have worked out well for everybody.

Tottenham were able to sell Sanchez for cash rather than lose him for free and Sanchez himself has relished a fresh opportunity in Turkey.

Sanchez wasn’t exactly attracting huge Premier League interest a year ago, so he really needed this move to get himself back on track and possibly in the shop window.

Tottenham may well see Sanchez make a swift Premier League return, but that doesn’t change the fact that Spurs were right to cash in.
