Prince William is real-life 'Mr Darcy' - 'That's why Kate Middleton's always smiling'

Royal fans are feeling hot and bothered over Prince William’s look at the Buckingham Palace garden party, calling the heir a real-life Mr Darcy.

The excited fans admired his top hat, morning suit and full attire when he was joined by his royal cousins for the annual celebration on May 21. Prince William stepped in to host the garden party on behalf of his father, King Charles, where fans dubbed he was the famous Mr Darcy from the Jane Austen book, Pride and Prejudice. Although he didn’t have Kate Middleton on his arm, the 41-year-old was given a helping hand by his cousins for the afternoon festivities.

Family members lower down on the line of succession, rocked up in their best Sunday outfits to mark the occasion. The Princess Royal’s daughter, Zara Tindall and her husband Mike, joined in a rare outing, as well as Prince Harry’s aunt’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie.

Zara, Eugenie and Beatrice matched with their pink and white fashion ensembles, while Peter Phillips and Mike embraced suits and top hats.

While Prince William’s cousins are also Queen Elizabeth II’s grandchildren, and attend family events like Easter and Christmas, they are not working members of The Firm. They hold down jobs and support charitable causes, whereas, senior members, such as William and Kate, have more of a duty for the monarchy.

They spent their time mingling with the thousands of guests who were invited in recognition of their public service.

However, it appeared the British weather got the best of the plans, as it poured down, but it didn’t dampen any spirits as William was seen still posing for photos holding a large umbrella.

It wasn’t the first garden party of the season, earlier this month, Charles and Queen Consort Camilla hosted the initial bash of the year. Although, it clashed with Prince Harry’s Invictus Games anniversary, which saw him jet back to the UK, on May 8.

The palace has held garden parties since the 1860s, establishing a way for the head of state to recognize those who commit to public service.

Aside from small talk, they’re also offered tea and cake – a British delicacy – and it’s said 27,000 cups and 20,000 slices of cakes are chomped down each summer.

Prince William called Mr Darcy

After seeing the 42-year-old in his best, fans have dubbed Prince William as a real-life Mr Darcy.

One fan wrote: “Prince William is giving us 6.3ft Mr Darcy but with blonde hair and blue eyes.

“Now we know why The Princess of Wales, Princess Catherine is always smiling”.

A second added: “He looks so young in this photo. Such a handsome man.”

While a third gushed: “Prince William is solid, loyal, kind & very handsome. His children have a great role model.”.

However, a fourth echoed: “It isn’t just how handsome he is, it’s his air of confidence, a powerful man”.

It comes after the heir was named the third-sexiest man in the UK.
