A £17m Mikel Arteta signing has now decided he needs to leave Arsenal this summer transfer window.

Arsenal’s bitterly disappointing end to the season – missing out on the Premier League title- will quickly be forgotten as the transfer season is upon on.

Already, The Gunners have been linked with a plethora of players as Edu plots targets to add to Arteta’s squad.

Now, it has just emerged, that an Arsenal player wants to leave this summer.

Albert Sambi Lokonga wants to leave Arsenal

Albert Sambi Lokonga joined Arsenal in a £17m move during the summer of 2021, though, he’s only made 39 appearances for the club.

The Belgium midfielder spent last season on loan at Luton Town and although he suffered relegation, it was a productive year on a personal level.

Now, though, he wants to leave Arsenal this summer.

“For me, I had a discussion with Arsenal and the conclusion was the best thing for me was to leave the club, so now it’s up to my agent and the club to find something,” Lokonga said.

“I still have a contract there, 1 year plus 1 year option so let’s see what happens.”

Arsenal should allow Albert Sambi Lokonga to leave

It’s in both parties’ best interest to move Lokonga on in the summer, as he’s unlikely to get any game time under Arteta.

Further, with the Premier League clamping down on Profit and Sustainability regulations, Arsenal will need to sell assets this summer to stay in line.

Whilst his stock is high, having performed well at Luton, Edu should cash in on the 24-year-old midfielder.
