Nottingham Forest officially have a player who is better at dribbling than Eberechi Eze

It’s the time of year when the Premier League numbers start to be analysed and Nottingham Forest have a player who is better at dribbling than Eberechi Eze.

The Reds endured a pretty drab campaign, it has to be said.

Forest finished in 17th place but did manage to finish six points clear of the relegation zone – 10 if you don’t consider the four-point deduction.

Despite a season of struggle, there have been some decent individuals who have shone in the Forest team.

One of those has been a bargain signing – and now he’s outshone a player who was called up for England earlier this week in one department.

Nottingham Forest star is better at dribbling than Eberechi Eze

This one might come as a bit of a surprise.

Eze is a wonderful player and he’s just helped Crystal Palace achieve a 10th-place finish in the Premier League and earned an England call-up.

For all of his quality though, he hasn’t been as effective at dribbling this season as Forest star Callum Hudson-Odoi.

These statistics come from X where The Other 14 have been sharing some statistics for the 2023/24 campaign.

They show that Hudson-Odoi has attempted 80 dribbles and been successful with 43 of them across the season.

That gives him a 53.8% success ratio and it’s higher than Eze.

The Palace man has been successful with 69 of the 140 that he’s attempted with a success ratio of 49.3%.

Forest have to keep Hudson-Odoi this summer

It’s quite remarkable that Forest managed to get Hudson-Odoi for just £3 million last summer.

Admittedly, the team were taking a bit of a chance on him after a failed spell with Bayer Leverkusen where he struggled again for regular football.

Hudson-Odoi has been fantastic this season, however, scoring eight goals across the campaign.

He’s really kicked on under Nuno Espirito Santo and if anything he might think the season is finishing too soon given the form he’s in.

Eze is clearly a good player but these stats do prove that at his best, Hudson-Odoi is a seriously talented boy too.

It’s easy to forget that Hudson-Odoi is only 23-year-old and with a full pre-season he could get even better for Forest next season.

There have been some loose links with Hudson-Odoi and bigger football clubs.

However, it’s imperative that Forest keep a player who is as direct and as useful in carrying the ball as the winger for next season.

Hudson-Odoi has become vitally important and these stats in comparison to Eze make for very interesting reading.
