'It's a plausible scnario': Agent says Manchester United could swap Rasmus Hojlund for £110m superstar

Manchester United signing a world-class striker in a swap deal that would see Rasmus Hojlund moving in the other direction has been described as a ‘plausible scenario’.

The Red Devils’ season is not over yet. They take on Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday in a game that could decide Erik ten Hag‘s future at the club.

Irrespective of what happens on the managerial front, Manchester United are expected to be active in the summer transfer window, and a new striker will likely be on the agenda.

Agent makes Rasmus Hojlund – Victor Osimhen swap deal claim

If you’re having a conversation about the best strikers in the world today, Victor Osimhen‘s name will definitely come up.

The Nigeria international is an unbelievable centre-forward.

He led Napoli to their first Serie A title in over three decades in the 2022/23 season, and he did fairly well despite injury issues and international commitments in the following campaign as well.

Osimhen, who has a release clause of around £110 million, is widely expected to leave Napoli this summer, and Chelsea are said to be the favourites to sign him when the window opens in June.

However, football agent Andrea D’Amico has made a claim today that may excite Manchester United fans.

The Italian came on for an interview on Radio Goal on Kiss Kiss Napoli to discuss Osimhen’s future in the coming months.

D’Amico, to everyone’s surprise, then claimed that a swap deal between Napoli and Manchester United, which would see Rasmus Hojlund and Osimhen switch sides, is ‘a plausible scenario’ before the window shuts at the end of August.

He said: “The future of Osimhen? It’s difficult to say now, we’re in May and it’s not a small deal so we’ll have to wait.

“He speaks English, the Premier League is the most important championship in the world. He doesn’t go to Barcelona and Real Madrid and if he doesn’t go to PSG or Bayern either, he will only be left with the Premier League.

“Osimhen-Hojlund exchange with United? It’s feasible. Manchester United respects the characteristics where Osimhen could play. In short, it’s a plausible scenario.”

Rasmus Hojlund vs Victor Osimhen’s stats in 2023/24

If you give Manchester United fans the opportunity to sign Victor Osimhen, we’re sure almost every single one of them will jump at that chance.

The Napoli man is one of the best strikers in world football, and it would be silly to say no to him.

However, if the only way United can sign Osimhen is by sending Rasmus Hojlund in the opposite direction, we don’t think it’s worth it.

Osimhen, in 31 games in all competitions this season, scored 17 goals for Napoli, 15 of which came in the Serie A.

Hojlund, on the other hand, scored 16 goals in all competitions for Manchester United in the 2023/24 season.

Yes, Osimhen has the better numbers, but it is important to consider that Hojlund is over four years younger than the Napoli striker. It was the Dane’s first-ever season in the Premier League as well, and he was playing in a really poor Manchester United side.

He will only get better in the coming years – Gary Neville even thinks he’s Erling Haaland in the making.

Signing Osimhen does sound tempting, but if it’s at the cost of losing Hojlund, we think Manchester United should pass on that opportunity.
