Wolves fans all left fuming over what Jeff Shi has just done, it’s not announced yet

Wolves fans have reacted to the findings of new season ticket prices ahead of the 2024/25 season, with no announcement yet to be made about the increased cost to visit Molineux next campaign.

After winning just one of their final 10 Premier League games over the 2023/24 season, the last thing Wolves fans would have wanted to learn is that season ticket prices will be increasing.

The Old Gold improved their 2022/23 points tally by five points, secured a 14th-place finish and showcased some thrilling performances however, showed little to warrant a price hike.

Instead of the club sharing the news of prices shooting up ahead of next term, Wolves supporters have come to their own findings of the increase in their season ticket costs when reviewing their membership status on the website.

The findings are perplexing considering that Jeff Shi provided a detailed overview of the state of the club ahead of the summer via Express and Star, making for poor timing over an alarming matter that has done the opposite of making supporters feel valued.

Taking to X after learning of the price hikes, Wolves fans far and wide reacted to the season ticket inflation ahead of the 2024/25 campaign…

Wolves fans fume over season ticket price hikes after Jeff Shi statement

In his column for E&S, Shi touched upon the requirement for Wolves to evaluate their ticket prices but failed to mention the actual climb in prices that would be pushed on loyal supporters.

‘It’s very understandable that some fans feel frustrated if the cost for Premier League games gets higher and higher.

‘The only way to price it fairly is benchmarking our price with the other 19 clubs, especially with those peers who have similar fanbase size, stadium capacity and sporting achievements. It shouldn’t be much higher than theirs but shouldn’t be much lower either.

‘Our ticketing team have researched each Premier League club, compared Wolves on almost every aspect with them.’

After learning the prices they will have to pay to renew their season tickets at Molineux this summer, Wolves fans reacted on X.

Supporter and podcaster @daveazzopardi said, ‘Wolverhampton Wanderers you have lost the plot’, an opinion shared by @stujones10 who dubbed the new prices ‘disgusting’.

The matter of the increase caused frustration through there being no announcement and by the sheer climb in prices, with @mjjjbX explaining that prices in the Steve Bull stand have ‘gone up £113 from last year’.

Fellow season ticket holder @adpr84 shared his personal price increases on X after checking his ticket renewals section on the website, ‘For reference mine in the Family Enclosure; Adult – from £635 to £780 (23%) Under 14 – from £105 to £245 (130%!)’

As expected, some fans turned their frustrations towards Shi, with @WolfInDerby saying, ‘X is not going to be a good place for Wolves officials today. Putting prices up during a cost of living crisis and that absolute load of waffle article are really painting Jeff in a terrible light’

The most concerning element is that due to the increase, loyal followers of Wolves could now be restricted from attending games, with the timing of the increase during the cost of living crisis putting pressure on fans financially.

Supporter @wolfden1877 outlined an important factor in the price hikes by saying, ‘People’s mental health will be affected by those prices, footballs a way to cope, a way out for some people! Wolves you’re an absolute joke’, adding that their season ticket has gone up ‘nearly £200’

Rightfully, season ticket holder @JP__267 expressed his anger that the club are yet to announce the increase:

‘This whole Season Ticket issue has been compounded by the fact that Wolves as a club haven’t even had the b*****s to announce the prices publicly, they’ve leaked the prices and allowed fans to find out for themselves. Joke club.’

Fan @BridgnorthWolf directed his anger at the lack of progression on the pitch from Wolves, not helped by the timing of the incredibly steep increase.

‘4 wins from the last 15 games and finding it hard to actually be bothered to go due to having no players down to investment, got rid of half the squad, ground a mess Jeff you’re taking the p*** son! #fosunout’

Wolves fans are right to be angry at season ticket prices

After the mess that the club endured last summer as a result of financial restrictions, Wolves fans have been incredibly patient with overseeing the 2023/24 campaign and supporting Gary O’Neil’s transitioning side.

The last thing that supporters wanted and needed was to be met with a price hike that must be paid in order for season tickets to be renewed ahead of next term.

With no investment expected from Fosun this summer to assist with the footballing side of things, supporters will rightfully ask questions as to what warrants such hikes at this time.

Most concerningly, the club has yet to address or announce the season ticket price increases, leaving fans feeling disconnected and disrespected by the side they follow so passionately.
