‘Can’t be ruled out’: Journalist says ‘brilliant’ manager could get the Chelsea job, but it’s not likely

Speculation is rife as Chelsea search for a new manager.

The Blues have been linked with so many potential new gaffers, and it’s hard to predict who the west Londoners will actually hire.

Speaking on The Debrief, Ben Jacobs has shared what he knows about Chelsea’s managerial situation, and he’s made an interesting claim about Ruben Amorim as a potential candidate.

Amorim has been linked to a number of top jobs as of late, and according to Jacobs, he’s someone who can’t be ruled out of the Chelsea running, although, he’s not seen as a likely contender.

Ruben Amorim a Chelsea contender, but not likely

Jacobs shared what he knows about Amorim and a number of other contenders.

“Even before a decision was made on Pochettino Chelsea were planning. In that planning, Kieran McKenna, Enzo Maresca and Thomas Frank were all discussed, Michel another name, and the likes of Roberto De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim can’t be ruled out, but at the moment they’re not seen as likely replacements for Pochettino,” Jacobs said.

Ruben Amorim to stay at Sporting

Amorim doesn’t sound likely to get the Chelsea job, and another season at Sporting could be on the cards for the Portuguese gaffer.

Amorim has been linked with almost every top club in Europe this year with the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and even West Ham all said to be keen at different points in time, but nothing has actually come to fruition.

Amorim appears to be ready to make that next step in his career, but, for some reason, none of these top clubs have decided to pull the trigger on him, and it also sounds as though Chelsea will pass up on this opportunity too.

The ‘brilliant’ coach will surely be on the move at some point in the near future.
