'Strong club’: Neil Lennon’s arrival at Rapid Bucharest has earned Celtic praise from a surprising source

As every Celtic fan knows by now, Neil Lennon is back in management and keen to get his career back up and running.

A legend as a player and a manager, Lennon has won every domestic honour in Scotland, including a treble, on both sides of the footballing spectrum at Celtic.

And now, he’s in Romania where Lennon is looking to overturn the flailing Rapid Bucharest into a force to be reckoned with.

And his arrival has sparked some brilliant praise for Celtic from an unlikely source as Brendan Rodgers prepares his side for the upcoming Scottish Cup final against Rangers.

Gheorghe Hagi hails ‘strong’ Celtic

Gheorghe Hagi, father of Rangers winger Ianis, was one of the best footballers on the planet during his time. The legendary Romanian, who once starred for Real Madrid and Barcelona, welcomed the arrival of Lennon with some praise for Celtic thrown into the bargain.

Hagi said [The Celtic Way], “Neil Lennon is a coach who has delivered in his career. He managed Celtic and won a lot of titles in Scotland.

“He is a great manager and comes from Celtic – a strong club with a rich football culture.

“He knows all about pressure because there is plenty of pressure to win in Scotland and, of course, he will have big expectations to succeed at Rapid Bucharest too.

“We know how big a club Celtic are because they played Romanian teams in European competition. He is an extremely experienced coach.”

Rapid used to be one of the top clubs in Romanian football. With three titles, 13 Romanian Cup wins and four Super Cups Lennon has a big job in his hands to bring the glory days back to his new club.

Last winning a major honour in 2016, the club has been starved of success as it has toiled recently with financial difficulties [SPO] and managerial dismissals and they will be hoping that Lennon will not only bring stability to the club but success also.
