Report: £26m Tottenham player could soon join Vincent Kompany at Bayern Munich, expected to leave

Vincent Kompany is close to a shock move to Bayern Munich – and the Belgian could make one Tottenham player his first signing in Germany.

Spurs already lost one member of Ange Postecoglou‘s squad to the Bavarians in 2023 when Harry Kane surprisingly left N17 for the Allianz Arena.

Now, another Tottenham player could be about to depart north London for Bayern Munich…

Emerson Royal subject of bid from Bayern Munich

A story from Trivela now claims that Bayern Munich have submitted a bid to sign Emerson Royal.

The Brazilian news outlet believe AC Milan have also made an offer for the South American – who Spurs signed from Barcelona in a £25.7m deal back in August 2021.

Furthermore, Emerson Royal has an offer on the table from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr.

However, Trivela believe the Brazil international is putting his mental health first as he weighs up his next move, and therefore would like to remain in Europe, making Bayern Munich and AC Milan favourites to sign him.

It is not made clear just how much AC Milan and Bayern Munich are offering for the Brazilian, although Tottenham are in a strong negotiating position as the defender still has 24 months remaining on his contract.

Trivela also add that Emerson Royal has most likely already played his final game for Spurs, and is expected to leave this summer.

Tottenham unlikely to stand in Brazil international’s way

Postecoglou is presumably pleased by AC Milan and Bayern Munich’s interest, as the Telegraph believe the Australian actually wants to sell Emerson Royal this summer.

It is said that the 25-year-old is now deemed surplus to requirements at Spurs, with that story emerging around the same time as the Tottenham No.12’s tough end to the 2023/24 campaign, which saw him tormented during the 4-2 defeat at Anfield.

Roy Keane and Gary Neville both heavily criticised Emerson Royal after that hammering against Liverpool.

Therefore, now seems like a good time for the man from São Paulo to move on.

In our view, a move to Bayern Munich would be sensible, as a familiar face in Kane is already there to help him settle, while every player would be on an even playing field once Kompany arrives, offering Emerson Royal a fresh start.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as it could even be AC Milan who win the race, should a bidding war break out.
