£100k-per-week Tottenham player named as the Premier League’s biggest under performer under Ange Postecoglou

A Tottenham Hotspur player has been named as the Premier League’s biggest underperformer in his first season under Ange Postecoglou.

The 2023/24 campaign is now wrapped up with Tottenham ending the season with Europa League football to their name.

Ange Postecoglou‘s first season as the Spurs manager has been a big success with lots of improvements seen on the 2022/23 term.

However, it has not all been plain sailing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and some established players will be going into the summer with their futures in doubt.

Postecoglou has promised he will be making a number of changes over the coming months as the summer window opens over the coming weeks.

And one of the players who could be set to leave this summer has now been named as the league’s biggest underperformer compared to his form from the previous season.

Exits are going to be on the menu at Hotspur Way over the coming months with a reported 15-man list of players who could be let go.

Postecoglou has already sold a number of unwanted players since landing in north London with the likes of Eric Dier offloaded to Bayern Munich.

The Spurs boss has made no secret about the players he does not want at the club with the likes of Bryan Gil and Ryan Sessegnon set for summer exits.

Another player who is expected to be sold is midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who was an established starter before Postecoglou arrived.

And the Dane has now been named as the Premier League’s biggest underperformer for the 2023/24 campaign.

Compared to the form he showed in the previous campaign, WhoScored have ranked Hojbjerg’s rating for the 2023/24 season as-0.69 worse.

The midfielder has struggled for game time under Postecoglou who has looked to the likes of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur as his options in the middle.

Where could Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg sign this summer?

After a really difficult campaign for the Dane, he looks set to find a new club this summer having changed his agency already.

The £100k-per-week midfielder made 36 appearances in the Premier League under Postecoglou, however, only eight came from the start.

For a player who has established himself in the Premier League over the years, this simply isn’t enough for the Dane.

But it doesn’t look like he will be short of options this summer with a reported five clubs from across Europe already showing interest in him.

Given he’s still 28 years old and has a year left on his deal, Spurs will remain in a position to get a good return on the midfielder this summer.
