‘The dream target’: Fabrizio Romano names the striker Arsenal want more than anyone else

Arsenal are searching for a new striker.

The Gunners’ hunt for a centre-forward has been in the headlines for months at this point, and with the transfer window now close to being open, Arsenal can start getting to work.

Speaking to JD Football, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Arsenal’s transfer plans, and he says that the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are options for the Gunners.

However, according to Romano, Arsenal’s dream target is Alexander Isak, but, unfortunately for the Gunners, the journalist doesn’t think that deal will happen.

Alexander Isak is Arsenal’s dream target

Romano spoke about Isak and how much Arsenal admire him.

“They still need a proper number nine. Sesko is a name in the list, Viktor Gyokeres has been fantastic this season in Portugal. The dream target could be Alexander Isak at Newcastle, but I don’t think he’s going to leave the club,” Romano said.

Isak deal is difficult

Arsenal would love to sign Alexander Isak, but, sadly, this deal may be too difficult to do this summer.

The Swedish striker is reportedly being valued at around the £180m mark these days, and that is probably out of Arsenal’s reach at the moment.

Indeed, the striker would cost way too much for a club like Arsenal, and, in all honesty, he’d probably cost too much for anyone at that price point.

Newcastle know what sort of an asset they have here, and they won’t let him go cheaply.

The Magpies are well within their rights to hold firm over Isak as well, the striker is a top player, and even if Newcastle sold him for big money, it’s unlikely that they’d be able to find a replacement who’s anywhere near as good.

Arsenal may have to look elsewhere this summer, but who they ultimately end up targeting remains to be seen.
