‘Will leave’: Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal are going to sell their £45m player now

The summer transfer window is almost open, and Arsenal will likely ring in the changes during this period.

Indeed, the Gunners have been linked with a number of potential midfield and attacking targets.

Speaking to JD Football, Romano has been discussing Arsenal’s potential summer transfer plans, and he says that a new midfielder could come in, stating that Thomas Partey will leave the club in order to facilitate a new arrival.

Thomas Partey to leave Arsenal

Romano shared what he knows about the £45m man and Arsenal’s interest in a new midfield player.

“There are several players in the list. One player they’ve always appreciated is Douglas Luiz, but negotiating with Villa is never easy. They have several players lined up. There is a good chance they will bring in a new midfielder, Thomas will leave, Jorginho has extended,” Romano said.

Thomas Partey’s time to go

Partey has proven just how good he can be at Arsenal when he’s at his best, but, sadly, it may be time for him to go.

The Ghanaian has shown this season, once again, that injuries are a big issue, and if you can’t rely on Partey to be fit, he’s just taking up space in the squad and on the wage bill that could be used elsewhere.

Partey is now the wrong side of 30, and the reality is that Arsenal may need to let him go while he still has some semblance of resale value.

Of course, finding a younger model to replace Partey who is the same level of quality won’t be easy, but, finding someone who is slightly more reliable than Partey shouldn’t be too difficult of a task.

Partey, at times, was fantastic for Arsenal, but, as the old saying goes, the best ability in football is availability, and, sadly, Partey has failed on that front time and time again.
