3 reasons £60m Crystal Palace man is making a big mistake in wanting to leave Selhurst Park - Opinion

Amid reports that one of Crystal Palace’s star players is now wanting to leave this summer, here are three reasons he’s completely wrong.

This summer it’ll be Oliver Glasner‘s biggest wish that he manages to keep the bulk of his squad which has impressed so heavily to date.

However, doing so will be far from easy given the lucrative moves which will be offered to some of Crystal Palace‘s best players.

On Thursday it was reported that Marc Guehi is attracting £60m interest from multiple top Premier League sides, and the defender himself actually wants to leave.

Here are three reasons the England international is wrong…

He’d be leaving Crystal Palace while the club are on the rise

The first reason that it could be a huge mistake for Guehi to depart Selhurst Park this summer is that he’d be leaving just as the club are finally on the up.

After a 10th-place finish with Glasner having only a few months in charge, the thinking is next season could get even better with Joachim Andersen even targeting a European finish.

To depart now wouldn’t make sense after suffering through some bad seasons for the Eagles, Guehi should want to stay and enjoy the good times which Glasner seems sure to bring.

Could be a part of something special in Palace’s history

For Guehi, heading to a club like Manchester United, Liverpool or Chelsea would likely give him a higher chance at winning silverware, but it’d come with serious risk.

Chelsea for example is known to chew up talents and spit them out after a year, while for anyone moving to United, there’s risk given the multiple high-profile flops in recent years.

But staying at Palace for potentially the best period in the club’s history if things continue along these lines under Glasner, could have him forever immortalised at Selhurst Park.

He could lose his England place

Departing a club which is doing so well like Palace to head into the unknown could be a real risk for another reason, with his England spot potentially being at risk.

He can take Mason Mount as a precedent with the midfielder’s move to United last summer ending in him having a woeful campaign and missing the Euros when he was a shoo-in before.

This would be a warning for Guehi to not leave Palace, where he could continue impressing.
