'Secured': Club think their manager snubbed new contract because he's already got the Man United job - journalist

One of the biggest clubs in the world are convinced that their manager is going to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

The Dutchman is expected to be sacked following the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley. It has been reported that he will be shown the door at Manchester United irrespective of the result (Guardian).

If Ten Hag does leave, the Red Devils will have to replace him, and they have been linked with multiple names recently.

Here’s the latest on one of them.

What Bayern Munich think has happened between Thomas Tuchel and Manchester United

Thomas Tuchel has officially announced that he will be leaving Bayern Munich.

The German giants confirmed months ago that their manager will depart at the end of the campaign, but Bayern did change their stance.

After missing out on the likes of Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and even Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, the Bavarians tried to convince Tuchel to extend his stay at the club.

However, after holding talks with the club’s bosses, the 50-year-old decided to reject their offer, he will officially be leaving on June 30, 2024.

Now, BILD’s Christian Falk has shared an update on Tuchel.

The German journalist has revealed that Bayern Munich’s board are convinced Tuchel snubbed a new contract at the Allianz Arena because he has already secured the Manchester United job.

The former Chelsea boss has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford to replace Erik ten Hag this summer.

Falk tweeted: “The board of FC Bayern is convinced: Thomas Tuchel let the negotiations for a new contract in Munich collapse because he already has the job at Manchester United secured.”

Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and a number of managers would be interested in succeeding Erik ten Hag.

Thomas Tuchel is arguably the biggest name they have been linked with, but he isn’t the only one.

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is also said to be on Manchester United’s radar, while Brentford’s Thomas Frank is being considered too.

Mauricio Pochettino, who left Chelsea last Tuesday, has also emerged as a surprise candidate to become the next manager of Manchester United (The Times).
