What Lisandro Martinez did to Erik ten Hag right on full-time as Manchester United won the FA Cup

Manchester United saw off Manchester City this afternoon to win the FA Cup and give Erik ten Hag the ideal finish to the season.

Whether Ten Hag will remain as United is another matter entirely but the day at Wembley belonged to his team.

Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and then Marcus Rashford ensured a memorable day in London as they prevented Pep Guardiola’s side from winning a double-double.

On the day, it was key for United that some of their big players turned up. The likes of Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and at the back Lisandro Martinez, all produced when it mattered.

Martinez, of course, has been a big miss for United throughout the season with his injuries.

Lisandro Martinez goes straight for Erik ten Hag as Manchester United win the FA Cup

Back in alongside Raphael Varane today, Martinez was excellent and in a nice moment with his manager at full-time, the former Ajax man made sure to make a bee-line for Ten Hag.

Shared by the BBC’s Neil Johnston, Martinez was straight onto Ten Hag at the full-time whistle and lifted the Dutch coach into the air and carried him onto the pitch in celebration.

As we know, Martinez was a key player for Ten Hag over in the Netherlands and Ten Hag was said to be a big advocate in bringing him to Old Trafford.

A changing point for Man United?

While the win over City might not fully change the mind of the Manchester United owners, it could well serve a changing moment for the Red Devils and Erik ten Hag.

The performance today and the celebrations at the end showed that Ten Hag seems to be well liked by plenty at United.

If Ten Hag does stay, then this is something he has to carry over into the new season and bring the good feeling with him and his squad into the 24/25 season.
