Exclusive: Graeme Bailey predicts when Liverpool will start to make signings under Arne Slot this summer

Liverpool fans are beginning to come to terms with the fact that Jurgen Klopp is no longer their manager.

Klopp waved his final goodbye to supporters on Sunday, with Arne Slot primed to take his place in the dugout.

The Dutch coach is set to arrive at the AXA Training Centre on June the 1st to officially begin his Liverpool career.

After that, it’s all about the transfer market for the Reds. With the first-team squad not expected back until the first week of July, full focus should be on improving the state of the playing staff.

Things are slightly complicated by the fact that there’s a European Championship set to get underway, though. And speaking exclusively to Rousing The Kop, journalist Graeme Bailey has explained how the Euros could impact Liverpool.

Graeme Bailey explains Liverpool transfer plans

Liverpool usually like to get their business done early. Last year, for example, Alexis Mac Allister’s signing was announced as early as June the 8th.

Dominik Szoboszlai then followed at the start of July, as FSG splashed the cash.

Already running towards the end of May though, it doesn’t appear as though any new arrivals are imminent at Anfield. This is something Bailey confirms, while giving an update into when some action will start.

“We need to see how Salah pans out,” claims the journalist. “I think in the coming weeks that will be crucial. Selling Salah doesn’t dictate Liverpool’s whole process, [but] it might dictate how much they can spend.

“I don’t think the Euros will have an impact on Liverpool particularly,” Bailey added. “Ideally they’ll want them in for the start of July. I think the next couple of weeks will be telling and we’ll see where the priorities are, because they’ll just be finishing conversations with Arne Slot now which will have a bearing on Liverpool and what they want to do.

“Although Slot isn’t picking out the players, the types of players he wants will obviously be factored in massively and obviously his assessment of the current squad, too.”

What are the latest Liverpool transfer rumours?

Had Liverpool been set to bring in a new signing, we’d likely be seeing the rumour mill going wild.

And though there are links out there to a number of players, nothing seems especially advanced at this stage.

One who has been talked about plenty over the weekend has been Lille defender Leny Yoro. Liverpool are reportedly pushing hard to sign the 18-year-old.

However, with Real Madrid seemingly Yoro’s preferred destination, it doesn’t appear to be a transfer that is particularly close.

Neither does a move for Johan Bakayoko, which has also been strongly rumoured to be happening.

As ever with Liverpool, it’s best to be patient and wait to see what transpires. The Reds will no doubt have something up their sleeve, but it may not come to light until it’s close to being completed.
