Report: Tottenham showed 'late interest' in 'incredible' player but rival PL club think they've got him

Newcastle United think they’ve clinched the signing of one player despite ‘late interest’ from Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs are expected to be very active in the upcoming summer transfer window. Ange Postecoglou has publicly called for changes, and he is likely to strengthen multiple areas of his squad.

However, it looks like Tottenham are now set to miss out on one player who they have been linked with for a long time.

Lloyd Kelly transfer update emerges after late Tottenham interest

Tottenham need reinforcements at the back this summer.

Spurs have four solid first-team defenders, but apart from Radu Dragusin, it has to be said that none of the other backups are good enough.

Ange Postecoglou will surely try to bring in a left-sided centre-half as well as a left-back this summer, and Lloyd Kelly seemed like the perfect option.

The ‘incredible‘ Bournemouth defender can play in both of those positions and in what was viewed as a huge boost for Tottenham, he will be available on a free transfer as well.

Andoni Iraola confirmed on the final day of the Premier League season that Kelly will leave Bournemouth at the end of his contract in July.

Now, a report from iNews has revealed that Tottenham actually showed ‘late interest’ in signing Kelly on a free transfer recently.

Spurs have had an eye on him since the summer transfer window of 2023, but a move collapsed them. Now, it looks like history is about to repeat itself.

The report claims that Tottenham’s Premier League rivals Newcastle United believe ‘a deal for defender Kelly has been clinched’.

Nothing’s confirmed yet, but all signs point towards Kelly joining Newcastle this summer right after his Bournemouth contract expires.

Another Tottenham target could end up at Newcastle

Tottenham must really be sick of Newcastle United.

The Magpies thrashed Spurs in each of their last two visits to St James’ Park, and now, Eddie Howe seems to have beaten Ange Postecoglou to Kelly’s signature.

To make things worse for Tottenham, another one of their targets could end up at Newcastle too.

Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo has long been linked with a move to Spurs, but the report from iNews has revealed that “concrete progress” has been made by the Magpies to sign him this week.

Unless Tottenham make a late move, it looks like Adarabioyo will end up at St James’ Park too along with Kelly on a free transfer.
