Real Housewives fans will be used to cast switch-ups from time to time. But, Crystal Kung Minkoff’s axing came as a surprise to some when she wasn’t asked to return to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14.
This May, Crystal sat down for a chat on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live to say why she thinks she was let go. The star was one of many Real Housewives cast members to depart from the Bravo franchise this year. It appeared that all at once, the shows lost many of their big names including Kandi Burruss of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Why Crystal Minkoff thinks she wasn’t asked to return to RHOBH
Appearing on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live, Crystal Minkoff gave her take on why she thinks she was let go from her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
She and Jeff lifted the lid on how the process works. He asked: “On April 12 you did the show, and two days later there was an announcement you would not be returning. Did you know at that time?”
Crystal said: “I was in talks. Yes. I was going down the path…”
Jeff asked if she was given the option of being a “friend of” the cast: “Do they give you those options?”
She said: “Usually, it’s just like the past few years for me are like let’s renew the contract, this was more of a conversation with me.
“So, it was like ‘how are you feeling about it?'”
She added how the show could be “hard” for her at times. The casting team reportedly opted out of having Crystal on board for season 14.
She said: “My family is like the most important thing, more important than any job I could have. And, the show is tough… it reveals a lot… I want to be protective of my family and my kids.”
Crystal confirmed how she has “always had boundaries.”
She added how that could have been a “struggle” for the producers of the show.
She agreed “more” was “wanted” from her, but concludes: “It was a good decision.”
Crystal no longer speaks to one co-star
Now Crystal has parted ways with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Jeff asked if she’s still in contact with one of her former co-stars.
Speaking of the RHOBH ladies Crystal said she thinks they “deserve a bajillion dollars” because of how much they “give.”
She explained she no longer has a relationship with Dorit, adding: “She’s the only one that didn’t text me.”
However, Crystal adds how the star was “probably dealing with her own contract.”
Dorit recently announced she and her husband PK Kemsley are separating.
