Gary Brazil issues heartfelt message as Nottingham Forest statistics make intriguing reading

Gary Brazil has taken to social media to comment on Nottingham Forest and the work being done by the club’s academy.

The Reds have a proud history with their youth ranks and many have risen through the ranks to play in the first-team.

Forest had Ryan Yates in the squad last season, with Joe Worrall also in the ranks for the first half of the season.

Now, Brazil has reacted after some figures came to light in terms of how much game time teams in the Premier League have given their academy stars.

Gary Brazil reacts after Nottingham Forest statistics come to light

The former Academy Director is now doing great things with the Football Association when it comes to younger players.

It was something of a mystery when Brazil was allowed to just walk away from Forest last year.

Now, Forest have Craig Mulholland pulling the string at the academy and things are going well in fairness.

The statistics that have come to light show that Forest are fifth on the list this season when it comes to minutes given to academy players.

It includes minutes of players based on the academies they came through.

For context, the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Anel Ahmedhodzic, Ben Osborn, Matty Cash, Ben Brereton Diaz and Brennan Johnson are included.

Brazil reacted on X to these figures and it shows that he still cares deeply about the football club.

He said: “The outcome tells only a small part of the story. Outstanding work from a group of driven staff and committed players, with a clear understanding of how to develop young footballers. Proud.”

Forest academy is common ground for supporters

It’s rare that Forest fans agree with everything when it comes to club matters but the academy is an exception.

The vast majority of the fan base will see the academy ranks as something to be proud of.

Whilst fans of Derby often plead about the brilliance of their academy, it’s hard to remember them recouping millions for many other than Will Hughes.

Forest have raked in hundreds of millions from their academy stars, with Johnson, Cash, Lascelles and others going for very large transfer fees.

It’s sad that Brazil wasn’t kept on at the club but this post appears to suggest there is no axe to grind and he still holds the club close to his heart.
