What Pep Guardiola did right after Man City's 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup final

Pep Guardiola was visibly annoyed after Manchester City suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester United in the FA Cup final.

The £378,846-a-week man lost his second cup final during his stint at City after witnessing his team come second best in the Champions League final to Chelsea in 2021.

Manchester United’s gameplan of sitting back, soaking pressure and hitting Manchester City on the break worked to perfection on Saturday.

What Guardiola did after Man City lost FA Cup final to Man United

United put in one of their most convincing performances of the season.

On the other hand, City arguably played some of their most underwhelming football this campaign at Wembley Stadium.

After Manchester City lost to Manchester United, Pep Guardiola was spotted arguing with referee Andy Madley in a video shared by Mail Sport.

Guardiola seemed puzzled as he argued with Madley for quite a long time; presumably due to certain decisions he took that went against City and in favour of United.

During the contest, the Sky Blues had several penalty shouts.

Notably when Kobbie Mainoo pushed Erling Haaland to the ground during a corner, which seemed like it could be given.

Manchester City did not lose due to refereeing decisions

In our view, Pep Guardiola was justified in arguing with Andy Madley about why Manchester City were not awarded a penalty against Manchester United in that instance.

But otherwise, their other shouts for spot-kicks were deservedly ruled out.

More importantly, the Premier League winners did not lose the game due to the referee making poor decisions.

Manchester City were simply off the boil and in cup finals, their performance levels must be significantly higher for them to get over the line.

However, in the heat of the moment, it is easier said than done for managers and players to remain calm at all times.
