Cambridge drink driver loses licence for second time

A Cambridge drink driver has lost his licence for a second time after he was caught by police on patrol.

Police were on patrol just after midnight on 22 April when they spotted Luis Massot driving at speed along Queen’s Road.

The 25-year-old, of Homerton Street, was signalled to pull over and blew 80 at the roadside, more than twice the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.

He went on to give an evidential reading of 63 in custody.

Massot was disqualified from driving for three years and four months at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (23 May) after pleading guilty to drink driving.

PC Matthew Bilham said: “Driving under the influence of drink or drugs is extremely dangerous and can affect your driving ability to judge speed and distance and reaction and coordination skills.

“The driving ban given to Massot reflects the seriousness of his actions and the repeat offending after previously being disqualified in August 2018 for 18 months for the same offence.”

Cambridgeshire Constabulary operates a confidential 24/7 hotline for drink and drug drivers on 0800 032 0845.
