31-year-old set to be tied down to new Man City contract next week

One player whose future has been a topic of conversation recently is Stefan Ortega.

On Tuesday, it was claimed that the German was keen on staying at Manchester City but his contract extension until 2026 was stalling due to a few reasons.

Firstly, because Ortega’s ambition is to be the number one at a club, whether that is for the Sky Blues or another club. As a result, if the 31-year-old’s contract situation was not finalised in the next few weeks, he would be willing to leave the Premier League winners.

Additionally, it was reported that the former Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper’s contract extension at City talks had halted due to disagreement on the financial terms of the deal.

Man City set to hold improved contract talks with Stefan Ortega

However, the Daily Star have claimed that Manchester City are attempting to tie Stefan Ortega down to a new contract next week.

It has been stated that City’s hierarchy will hold a conversation with Ortega’s representatives in the coming days to offer an improved offer.

Stefan Ortega could see his weekly wages bump up from £70,000 to £90,000 if he signs a contract extension at Manchester City, as per the report.

Whether Ortega agrees to the deal depends on the playing time he is guaranteed at the Etihad Stadium moving forward.

It has been claimed that Pep Guardiola expects Ederson Moraes to accept an offer from the Saudi Pro League. As a result, the Catalan is keen on Stefan Ortega committing his future to Manchester City.
