Report: PSG will not even try to sign £300,000-a-week Manchester City player in the summer

It has been reported that PSG have ended their pursuit to sign a certain Manchester City player in the summer.

As the season has ended for Premier League clubs, their focus is set to be on summer transfers, both in terms of incomings and outcomings.

Manchester City are known to be brilliant at selling players and sales seemingly form a major part of their transfer strategy every summer.

PSG end pursuit to sign 29-year-old Manchester City player

One of the players who future is up in the air is Bernardo Silva, whose contract at City expires in 2026. If the £300,000-a-week man decides to leave the club, the Sky Blues might have to grant him his wish.

Unless the Portuguese international decides to sign another contract extension as the Premier League winners will be forced to sell him at a discount fee in 2025 — the last year of his contract.

Le Parisien have reported that PSG do not consider the acquisition of Bernardo Silva as a priority anymore.

The report stated that it seemed like the French giants, who have been interested in the 29-year-old’s signature since Luis Campos’ arrival in 2022 would try to sign him this summer.

But after discussions between the PSG sporting director and Luis Enrique, their summer transfer priorities have changed.

It seems like PSG potentially view Bernardo Silva as a right-winger, as the club no longer intend to address that position.

Instead, the Ligue 1 winners aim to sign a left-winger this summer, considering Kylian Mbappe’s time at the club has ended.

All comes down to Bernardo Silva

While PSG seem to have had a longstanding interest in Bernardo Silva, even if that has ended, other clubs could still try to sign him.

The versatile attacker remains one of Europe’s best players and he could improve a whole host of teams in various positions.

As a result, if Bernardo Silva is perhaps looking to leave City regardless of PSG’s interest or lack thereof, his future remains uncertain.

Manchester City can well and truly breathe a sigh of relief only if the six-time Premier League winner feels no top club can entice him into a summer exit.
