Newcastle player 'done' with the club could now be targeted on permanent deal - Journalist

Newcastle United look set for something of a clear out this summer.

The hope, of course, is that Newcastle will be able to keep a hold of the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak despite their links with a move away.

Aside from those two star names, however, it’ll be fascinating to see who the club move on.

They are reportedly looking to raise money through player sales over the next few months in a bid to bolster their own war chest this summer.

Callum Wilson may depart, while Miguel Almiron is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.

Kieran Trippier is thought to be facing an uncertain too, while Martin Dubravka may be allowed to leave should Eddie Howe be able to bring in a new goalkeeper.

Amadou Diallo has already confirmed his exit, albeit that’s not going to command a transfer fee given he will be out of contract on June 1.

Newcastle have struggled to sell during the PIF era, with Allan Saint-Maximin and Chris Wood the only real notable departures for big money since the takeover.

Still, on Sunday, Newcastle were offered a boost.

Ryan Fraser, who said he was “done” with the club after leaving on loan for Southampton was promoted with the Saints in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

Southampton will try to sign Ryan Fraser permanently

The Scotland international has just a year left on his contract at St James’ Park and, according to Alfie House of the Daily Echo on X (formerly Twitter), Saints will look to sign Fraser on a permanent basis having returned to the Premier League.

Given his lack of involvement on Tyneside and his dwindling contractual status, it is hard to imagine the former Bournemouth star commanding much in the way of a significant transfer fee.

However, The Chronicle suggest he’s on as much as £70k-per-week, so removing that sizeable salary would be most welcome.

Newcastle are about to make a profit on Ryan Fraser

Signed on a free transfer from Bournemouth in 2020, getting any money at all for Fraser would see Newcastle make a profit.

Again, it’s difficult to see Saints paying massive money for a player with just a year left on his contract but any money received and the removal of his wages has to be seen as a major financial boost.
