'I cannot say what I feel': Edu makes comment on Man City and Pep Guardiola after Arsenal finish second again

Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar has delivered his verdict on Manchester City and Pep Guardiola after they won the Premier League title.

The race for the English football crown was a really exciting one in the 2023/24 season.

Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool were all in the title race until April, but it was just Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta‘s sides who took it to the final day. City then won it.

Edu has now had his say on Arsenal‘s title rivals.

What Arsenal’s Edu Gaspar has said about Manchester City and Pep Guardiola

Manchester City were incredible in the second half of the Premier League season.

Pep Guardiola‘s men didn’t lose a single game in the league between the first week of December and the final game of the season, which is an extraordinary achievement.

Arsenal, to be fair to them, did all they could. The Gunners dropped points in just two games in 2024 – a draw at City and a defeat to Aston Villa.

Three points in either of those games would’ve made them the champions, but sadly for them, it was a second-place finish again in the Premier League.

Edu Gaspar, like every Arsenal fan, was hoping to see City slip up at some stage in the season, but Guardiola’s men proved to be too good in the end.

Now, the Brazilian has had his say on his side’s main title rivals.

Edu first claimed that he ‘cannot say what he feels’ about Manchester City but then heaped praise on the tremendous work Guardiola has done at the Etihad.

In an interview with Estadao in Brazil, he said: “There are things that unfortunately I cannot say what I feel.

“But all the merit of the world to Pep for the training and work he has been doing since he started his career. I even joke with my son that I want to see if he is good even in rugby.

“It’s a joke that I do because he has already won everything in football. Winning in all the countries he has passed and has been winning, he has a lot of merit.”

One thing Arsenal need to do to dethrone Manchester City

Manchester City are a force and they can be unstoppable when they’re in full flow.

Guardiola has built an extraordinary squad at the Etihad, the world-class players he has at his disposal are capable of overcoming every obstacle.

Arsenal have a brilliant squad too, but the one difference between themselves and Manchester City is squad depth.

If the likes of William Saliba, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka get injured, their season will be over almost immediately.

Arsenal will need to bolster their squad this summer. If they get their signings right, they could well pip City to the title in the 2024/25 season.
