Cristiano Ronaldo recognised with ‘GOAT’ status by one Man Utd player after breaking another record in his career

Cristiano Ronaldo has received a special message from one Manchester United player after the Al Nassr superstar broke another record in his illustrious playing career.

The 39-year-old Portuguese forward has been playing in the Saudi Pro League with Al Nassr since his exit from Manchester United in 2022.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a falling out with Erik ten Hag during his second spell at Old Trafford after falling down the pecking order under the United manager.

The Al Nassr and Portugal skipper pulled no punches towards Erik ten Hag before his exit from United, with Ronaldo dropping a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo’s contract with the Red Devils was terminated by mutual agreement in 2022 before the United legend signed for current side Al Nassr in 2023.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been adding to his goalscoring tally in the Saudi Pro League, with Ronaldo scoring 58 times in 63 appearances for Al Nassr.

Ronaldo has been in a stunning run of form in the 2023-24 campaign and has found the back of the net an impressive 35 times in the league in 31 matches.

Ronaldo receives major praise from Man Utd player

Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo shattered another record in his career after scoring the most times in a single Saudi Pro League season.

Ronaldo’s current goalscoring tally of 35 in 31 appearances allowed him to surpass Abderrazak Hamdallah, who scored 34 times in the 2018-19 season.

However, Al Ittihad striker Abderrazak Hamdallah managed his feat in four fewer matches than Al Nassr star Ronaldo.

Ronaldo achieved his latest feat on Monday after the Portugal international scored a brace against Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League match at the Al Awwal Stadium.

Al Nassr closed out their Saudi Pro League season by finishing second in the league table, falling 14 points short of champions Al Hilal in the title race.

Ronaldo took to social media and posted on Instagram his delight at breaking the Saudi Pro League record with Al Nassr.

“I don’t follow the records, the records follow me,” he said.

The Al Nassr Zone account on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, shared a screenshot of Jadon Sancho’s reply to the United and Real Madrid legend.

Jadon Sancho, who is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund, simply responded to Ronaldo’s post by calling him the ‘GOAT’ with a single emoji.

Sancho on Ronaldo’s influence

Sancho has spoken highly about the influence that Ronaldo had on him when he returned to Old Trafford and admitted that he ‘loved’ his ex-teammate’s mentality.

“He’s a great professional and obviously he was one of my role models growing up,” he told Borussia Dortmund’s YouTube channel in January.

“Again, I just love his mentality and for every young player that was there at that time, they learned to be at the top you have to train like you’re playing.

“Every day at your best, even in the gym, working and even recovery, sleep is important, so you know seeing him and playing with him was a dream come true because watching clips of him is definitely inspirational.

“I’m thankful to him and think he’s taught me during his time in Manchester.”
