Troy Parrott shares very honest answer on whether he will ever play for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott has now spoken out on whether he feels he will ever play for Ange Postecoglou.

The 2023/24 campaign is over for Tottenham who have secured themselves a spot in the Europa League for next season.

A number of players will now be returning to Hotspur Way over the coming weeks following their loan spells away from the club.

As is to be expected, there have been various levels of success with the Tottenham loans this season with some players potentially earning themselves a second shot at the club.

One of those players will be Troy Parrott who has spent his season away from north London with the Eredivisie side Excelsior.

And the Ireland international has now been speaking ahead of his return to his parent club having impressed during his time in the Netherlands.

What Troy Parrott said about returning to Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou

Parrott was one of the players who did not waste too much time last summer in finding himself regular football away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Irishman made the move to the Eredivisie following mixed loan moves within England in the seasons prior.

And he will be returning to Spurs at a time when the club are believed to be in the market for a new number nine with Richarlison potentially a player who could move on.

But whether or not a spot in Postecoglou’s plans could be available for the 22-year-old remains to be seen ahead of pre-season.

Having scored an impressive hat-trick on the weekend, the striker spoke about whether he can picture himself playing for Spurs again.

“I don’t know exactly what will happen. I have two more matches here and then maybe international matches, but I’m looking forward to next season,” he told Voetbal Primeur.

“I’ve always wanted that, ever since I came to the UK as a boy.”

When asked whether he’s been in contact with Tottenham, Parrott replied: “No not in terms of what’s going to happen with my plans going forward, but I’m excited.”

Troy Parrott impresses during his time away from Tottenham

Parrott has impressed during his time in the Netherlands where he has been able to return 13 goals and five assists across all competitions.

However, it does feel as if Tottenham’s current striker situation may play a big role in where Parrott’s future lies this summer.

If Spurs are to sell Richarlison over the summer – presumably after bringing in a new striker – the role of backup number nine may be open to claim.

And with a number of young strikers at the club who are pushing for a spot in the first team, Parrott may well find himself at the front of the queue having picked up some experience in the men’s game this season.

Given Dane Scarlett’s struggles perhaps Parrott may be the leading candidate to potentially provide Postecoglou depth up top given Will Lankshear is yet to even make his debut for the senior side.

One thing that is for sure is the upcoming pre-season will provide an interesting overview of where Postecoglou’s plans may lie.
