N.J. woman assaulted child in her care, authorities allege

A woman has been arrested on charges related to striking a child in the face with an unidentified object, officials said.

Katherine Pastor, 45, of Teaneck, was arrested on Friday. She is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and the disorderly persons offense of simple assault, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.

Pastor allegedly hit the child in the face with the object while the juvenile was under her care, authorities said. The victim required immediate medical attention due to injuries sustained during the alleged assault, prosecutors said.

Additional information on the nature of the alleged assault was not immediately available.

Pastor is being held in Bergen County Jail pending her first court appearance. Attorney information was not immediately clear.
