'Fake news': £60m Tottenham player says he definitely won't leave England this summer

One Tottenham Hotspur player has publicly rubbished claims that he will leave England in the summer transfer window.

Spurs fans’ focus will be on new signings in the upcoming window. They’ve already re-signed Timo Werner on another loan deal, and there will surely be a few more arrivals.

Tottenham could let a few of their own players leave too this summer. One of them who has been linked with a move away from the club has just addressed all the speculation around him.

Tottenham’s Richarlison hits out at ‘fake news’ and promises to stay in England

Tottenham signed Richarlison from Everton in 2022 in a £60 million deal (Sky Sports).

The Brazil international had a disastrous debut campaign. He only scored three goals all season and came under enormous criticism.

Richarlison had a much better season in 2023/24. He scored 12 goals in all competitions and did as well as he could up front following Harry Kane’s departure.

Despite an improved campaign, Richarlison has been heavily linked with a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Reports have claimed that Spurs are willing to let him go and then sign Dominic Solanke as his replacement once the window opens in June.

Just recently, former Brazil attacker José Ferreira Neto made a bold claim that Richarlison will return to Brazil this summer because he’s not happy at Tottenham. Vasco Da Gama were named as a potential suitor (Os Donos da Bola).

That, however, has been described as ‘fake news’ by Richarlison himself, who has now publicly claimed that he will not be leaving England this summer.

He wrote in his Instagram Story: “Took a few days off to work in SP (Sao Paulo) to be able to return better next season.

“About what happened in the middle of these last days is all fake news. I won’t leave England next season.”

Richarlison may have just dropped a transfer hint

There have been plenty of rumours that Tottenham would be open to selling Richarlison this summer.

Spurs have brought back Werner and are still expected to sign at least one new attacker – most likely an out-and-out centre-forward.

That would push Richarlison further down the pecking order, and he could well leave.

The interesting thing about Richarlison’s statement above is he has claimed that he will not leave England. However, he didn’t say anything about moving away from Tottenham.

That could be a hint that suggests Richarlison may well be open to a move to another Premier League club if Spurs decide to sell him this summer.

Only time will tell if any move materialises.
