The advantage Aston Villa now hold in the race to sign £15m target also wanted by Chelsea

Aston Villa have a significant advantage over fellow Premier League clubs who are eyeing one £15m target in the upcoming transfer window.

On the back of the 2023/24 campaign, Unai Emery and Monchi will turn their attention to the transfer window in a bid to bolster the current squad.

Finishing fourth in the Premier League table and securing Champions League football saw the Spaniard complete a remarkable feat in his first full season at Aston Villa, with the journey only just beginning.

Earlier this week, it was announced that the manager had penned a new five-year contract with the club, tying him down to his role until 2029 to the joy of many.

It’s poised to be a busy summer at Villa Park as Emery aims to keep the ball rolling going into the 2024/25 season, with several potential targets already named.

Aston Villa and Palace aren’t alone in being admirers of the Birmingham-born star, with the Guardian reporting back in March that Chelsea and West Ham were also eyeing the defender, who is said to be valued at £15m.

Ahead of the summer transfer window, Villa could find themselves at an advantage to sign the in-demand Gent star for reasons beyond the prospect of a homecoming.

Aston Villa have an advantage over rivals in the race to sign Archie Brown

While the other Premier League clubs listed all have their own unique pulling factor when it comes to luring targets, Villa could find themselves already leading the race to sign the left-back.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Brown identified one of his aspirations for the future as playing in the Champions League.

“My aspiration is to play at the highest level possible, to play in the Champions League and compete for league titles.”

After securing their spot in the Champions League for next season, Villa can offer what other clubs interested in the fullback can’t, competing amongst Europe’s elite.

It’s an interesting time for Villa to be linked with Brown as Emery will surely need to assess his options at left-back ahead of next term, with Lucas Digne being one of the club’s highest-earners, and Alex Moreno being an injury-prone asset.

Every club has its project to present to players however, very few in the Premier League can present a journey as exciting as the Villans at present, with Emery and the Champions League now a dazzling opportunity for many.
